Year 2 is a crucial and exciting year as it marks the end of Key Stage 1.

During this time, we help children grow in confidence as independent learners, encouraging them to take greater ownership of their learning.

Our curriculum continues to build on the strong foundations laid in Year 1, with a particular focus on deepening understanding in reading, writing, and maths.

Throughout your child's school journey, they have been developing six key learning skills that underpin all areas of the curriculum. By Year 2 the children are confidently drawing upon these skills and can identify which skills they have used in their learning. These skills will not only prepare them for a smooth transition into Key Stage 2, but also lay the groundwork for success in the world of work and beyond.
