Positive Playtime Provision

Unfortunately, due to the COVID Pandemic; children have missed out on many early play and social experiences, resulting in a rise of Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. This is not just our school but is reflected nationally. Play-based experiences underpin a lot of early development in children such as problem solving; teamwork, resilience etc and these core learning skills are essential for life long learning and success.

The school’s vision for this year is to create purposeful outdoor provision for our KS1 children.  Our aim is to learn from the theory of Early Years provision and replicate elements of this for our KS1 children to ensure that they are accessing play based experiences. We aim to re-generate the playground so that there are a range of purposeful play experiences eg, mud kitchens, large scale construction, small world experiences, sand and water play. Please see Pupil Premium Strategy and the school’s DEP for more information.

Our journey has already started and we are excited to share a video clip of our initial steps towards this goal.
