Herringthorpe Infant School
SEND Offer
Supporting Pupils with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
Inclusion & SEND Provision
At Herringthorpe Infant School, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential. We have developed a robust SEND pathway to ensure that pupils with additional needs receive the right level of support tailored to their individual learning styles.
Our three-pathway model provides a structured approach to learning for pupils with additional needs:
- Formal Pathway – For pupils who follow a structured curriculum in the classroom with additional support tailored to their needs.
- Semi-Formal Pathway – A blend of academic learning and life skills, designed for pupils who benefit from a more flexible approach. This blended approach means that pupils are based in their classroom but may access other areas of the school to support their learning timetable eg, The Hive.
- Informal Pathway – A highly individualised, sensory-based approach for pupils with highly complex needs, focusing on communication, engagement, and independence. Pupils on the informal pathway access the School's Enhanced Provision (SEP) called The Hive.
Through these pathways, we ensure that every child at our school receives the right support to thrive in a setting that values their individuality and strengths. The school undertakes a rigorous 'Plan, Do, Review' cycle on a regular basis to ensure that all SEND pupils are accessing the most appropriate pathway.
