F1 Admission Form
We provide outstanding nursery provision for three and four year olds alongside our Reception provision.
Most children access 15 hours or 30 hours of provision with us, over 5 days, term time only. Our on entry data for 2019 shows that 76% of children who had accessed our nursery provision entered full time school at the age appropriate level or above in all prime areas of learning compared with 40% of children who had not attended our nursery.
We offer a morning, afternoon or full day session. A morning session runs from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. The afternoon session runs from 12.15 pm to 3.15 pm. The 30 hour places run from 9.00 am to 3.00pm. To be eligible for a 30 hour place, we require an 11 digit code.
For more information on applying for a 30 hour code, please go to: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk
We encourage all the children in school to be independent and we foster this through a play based curriculum.
Children have a range of areas that they may access independently including a foundation one (nursery) classroom, a large outdoor area, and a large foundation unit. Spaces are shared with the foundation two (full time) pupils so children who attend our nursery settle quicker into school as they are already familiar with the setting and staff.
When the children arrive at nursery they are welcomed by highly trained staff who ease the separation from parents by engaging the children in a range of self-directed activities.
Each day the children engage in two whole class learning sessions where the development of language is promoted through the use of stories, rhymes and new experiences.
Throughout the week the children also work with the teacher in small groups to develop their early phonics skills. The children who attend our nursery and then move into full time school at Herringthorpe find early writing and reading easier as the same phonics scheme is followed throughout the school.
To see more of the exciting things our children get up to see our Foundation One Class page.
