Week 1- An introduction to Wassily Kandinsky
Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter.
Many people think he was the first abstract artist.
This week the children worked on a piece of artwork in the style of Kandinsky. We focused on colour, shape and painting technique.

A few pictures of our art work painting in the style of Wassily Kandinsky. This is going to be just one piece of work we are hoping to display later on in the year at 'The Picture This' exhibition.
Week 2 - An introduction to Margaret McDonald Mackintosh
Our next artist is called Margaret McDonald Mackintosh. She was a British artist who worked in Scotland and whose design work became one of the defining features of the Glasgow Style during the 1890s to 1900.

For our exhibition piece we are going to be working on creating a stain glass style picture which will capture the delicate patterns and colours of Margaret's unique and elegant style.
This week we needed to define the lines using tape on to acetate, this was quite a fiddly job but the children took great care and perseverance and achieved some fantastic results.
Week 3- Our artwork in the style of Margaret McDonald Mackintosh is really taking shape. Next week will will be adding acrylic paint to add colour to our stain glass effect pictures.
