Developing a Love for Reading!
Linking with our Community
Over the summer break our school teamed up with Mowbray Gardens Community Library to promote the love of reading.
Our pupils were invited to a 'Summer Social Event' where the fabulous library team developed a fun afternoon session dedicated to the pupils at
Herringthorpe Infant School.
The children were given the opportunity to explore the library by completing a
'scavenger hunt'.
The children were then given time to complete a variety of colouring challenges with images linked to popular children's texts.
The children then had quality time with their grown ups experiencing the books that are available in the library.
Mowbray Gardens Community Library also promoted their Summer Reading Challenge for 2022 'Gadgeteers'.
A number of our pupils have now successfully completed this challenge and have their book reviews on display in the library. It has been fantastic to hear about all the engagement with reading that has been happening over the summer break.
